Dr. Darren Leavitt is a board-certified podiatric physician and surgeon specializing in the treatment of all aspects of foot and ankle disorders. He is double board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry.

He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Leavitt has been at the forefront of adopting the latest techniques and technologies available for the correction of foot and ankle deformities and the improvement of function. With comprehensive knowledge and experience in decades of time-tested podiatric procedures, he continues to refine and modify these techniques to achieve enhanced outcomes for his patients, with a focus on shorter recovery times, minimal discomfort, and aesthetic results.

Dr. Leavitt attended the University of Alberta, where he completed his bachelor’s degree. He pursued his podiatric medical education at Western University of Health Sciences’ College of Podiatric Medicine in Pomona, California, where he received numerous merit-based grants and awards.

During his fourth year of podiatric medical education, Dr. Leavitt completed clinical rotations at hospitals throughout Los Angeles, Portland, Cleveland, and Central Texas. After receiving his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from WesternU, he was accepted into his first-choice surgical residency program in forefoot and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery at Legacy Health/Kaiser Permanente in Portland, Oregon, one of the nation’s highly regarded foot and ankle residency programs.

During his residency, Dr. Leavitt completed nearly 1,200 surgical procedures, including Charcot reconstruction, ankle trauma surgery, ankle arthroscopy, and total ankle replacement. His training also included rotations in general surgery, vascular surgery, internal medicine, radiology, pathology, infectious disease, pediatric orthopedics, orthopedic oncology, and emergency medicine.

Dr. Leavitt has also completed advanced courses in Taylor Spatial Frame reconstructive techniques and limb deformity correction at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics in Maryland.

He currently maintains privileges at Riverview Surgical Centre in Calgary, an Alberta Health Services-certified outpatient facility where he performs private elective procedures.
